The Master of Health Informatics & Health Information Management program at the University of Washington prepares you to lead in the rapidly evolving field of health IT.

Through the program's unique leadership-focused curriculum, created in collaboration with the UW's Master of Health Administration program, you'll develop the leadership skills required to manage large organizations while also gaining deep domain expertise in health informatics and health information management.

The MHIHIM program is offered by the UW Department of Health Services in the School of Public Health and is administered by UW Professional & Continuing Education. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.

Program Format

You can earn your Master of Health Informatics & Health Information Management degree in 18 months, or six quarters. Classes meet once a month, Thursday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at UW Professional & Continuing Education's Park 140 facility in Bellevue.

In addition to attending the monthly in-person classes, MHIHIM students are also expected to participate in weekly webinars throughout each academic quarter. These online sessions are held Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weeks when there are no on-site classes. For detailed schedule information, see the Student Resources page.

Who Should Apply

The Master of Health Informatics & Health Information Management is designed for professionals currently working in health care settings, including those in health information management, health administration and clinical settings who want to advance into mid- and senior-level health informatics leadership roles. The program also serves IT and business professionals who want to apply their skills to enter a health-related field.
